Flats murder probe: Man dies after two found injured

A MURDER probe has been launched today after the death of a 28-year-old man in Musselburgh.

Police were called to a block of flats in Eskside West, Musselburgh, at 1:15am.

On arrival at the property police officers found two people had been injured.

A police spokesman said they had been taken by ambulance to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where one of them, a 28-year-old man, died of his injuries.

A murder inquiry has been launched and officers today appealed for information.

Several blocks of flats on the street have been cordoned off by police forensic teams.

A telephone box on the street close to the scene has also been sealed with police tape.

Forensic officers were today also examining the ground under several parked cars nearby.

Postman Alec Coburn, 45, said: "It's very disturbing. It is quite quiet round about here and this has come very much as a shock."

A police spokesman said: "Anyone who was in the area of Eskside West in the early hours of this morning and may have information that could assist police is asked to contact 0131-311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
