Extra trains run later for festival goers

EXTRA trains from Waverley station are to be provided to allow festival-goers the chance to enjoy late-night events.

Trains to Glasgow Queen Street calling at all stations along the central belt will run from August 7 to September 4.

The late-night service will see trains departing Sunday-Thursday from the Capital at 12.20am, with an extra service at 12.30am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Scotrail is also running a train from Waverley to Inverkeithing on Friday nights at 11.48pm, from August 13 to September 3, calling at Haymarket, South Gyle, Dalmeny and North Queensferry.

The additional weekend late night train to North Berwick introduced for last year's festivals will also run this year, on Fridays at 11.37pm from August 6 to September 3 and at 11.40pm on Saturday nights from August 7 to September 4.

It will call at Musselburgh, Wallyford, Prestonpans, Longniddry and Drem.

A new service is being introduced for Fringe by the Sea, running nightly at 11.55pm from North Berwick to Edinburgh Waverley from August 10 to August 15, calling at all stations along the route.
