Eilidh turns over a new leaf

Eilidh Skinner, 6, looks through an Ikea catalogue as she relaxes at the store on a chair made from recycled goods, as part of the Scottish Government's recycling roadshow.

The show has been set up to encourage shoppers to recycle items more often. With an estimated 13 billion plastic bottles thrown away in the UK each year, huge amounts of recyclable waste is being sent to landfill. The Scottish Government aims to have 50 per cent of all household waste recycled or composted by 2013.

Ikea Edinburgh's environmental specialist Matt Hope said: "We are delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile campaign."
