Dry ice sparks blaze drama

A CITY theatre was evacuated after a technical hitch triggered fire alarms during a public performance last night.

Dry ice being used at the opening night of Back To The Eighties at the Churchill Theatre in Morningside engulfed the auditorium, setting off alarms.

The fire service attended the incident and the audience was allowed back into the building within 15 minutes.

In a separate incident, fire crews were called to Miro's Cantina Mexicana on Rose Street at 8.30pm last night. The restaurant was evacuated while firefighters brought a blaze under control.
