Drivers caught using mobiles

POLICE caught six motorists using their mobile phones behind the wheel on the same stretch of road in a single morning.

Officers carried out the checks on the A7 near to Hardengreen Roundabout at Dalkeith, Midlothian, and caught four men and two women flouting the law.

Among those caught during the operation were a 31-year-old man from Gorebridge, a 37-year-old man from Bonnyrigg who was driving an HGV, a 28-year-old woman, from Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, a 34-year-old woman from Gorebridge, a 26-year-old man from Wester Hailes, driving a Vauxhall Combo and a 20-year-old man from Loanhead.

All six were cautioned and charged, and accepted a fixed penalty ticket following the crackdown last Wednesday morning.
