Daft Punk’s Bangalter ‘nearly hit by Glasgow lorry’

ONE half of Daft Punk had a lucky escape when he nearly got hit by a lorry in Scotland, it was revealed today.

The French DJ Thomas Bangalter told Rolling Stone magazine he was nearly hit by the HGV the night Kurt Cobain took his life in April, 1994.

But he had a narrow escape as bandmate Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo saved him by pulling him off the road.

The pair had just left a party in Glasgow and were heading to an afterparty when the incident happened.

Bangalter also revealed that night was the last time he took class A clubbing drug, Ecstacy.

He said: “I did Ecstasy for one year, from early 1993 to early 1994.

“The problem was that I was liking any music I’d hear, any crap - I had no critical judgment.

“The last time I did Ecstasy was the day Kurt Cobain died.

“We were at a party in Glasgow when I heard. Then we were going to an afterparty and I almost got hit by a truck.”

The international stars released the first tracks from their debut album, Homework, on Scottish dance label, Soma.

The pair are now working on a remix of their hit comeback single, Get Lucky, and hope to release it next month.
