Colin Montgomerie escapes unhurt after car crash

Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has escaped with only minor injuries following a car crash near Glasgow today.

The 47-year old was involved in the accident when he was driving on the the A80 near Moodiesburn at around 11.30am.

Police say two cars, a van and a truck were involved and that no-one required hospital treatment.

Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Montgomerie captained Europe to a win over the United States in the Ryder Cup golf tournament at Celtic Manor this month.

He recently returned to playing golf and finished tied for 41st at the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
