Arrests made in murder case

POLICE investigating the murder of a shopkeeper who was bludgeoned to death in his store yesterday charged a 17-year-old youth with robbery and announced they have made three further arrests.

West Yorkshire Police said the 17-year-old, who was arrested last week, has been charged in connection with a robbery at Gurmail Singh's store in Huddersfield on 18 February, two days before Mr Singh was killed.

A force spokesman said a 20-year-old and two other 17-year-olds have been arrested this weekend and are in custody. Two other youths also arrested last week have been released.
