POPULAR Scottish actor Gerard Kelly has died after he collapsed suffering a brain aneurysm, it was reported this morning.

The 51-year-old was rushed to hospital after falling ill yesterday at his home in west London.

He was rushed to West Middlesex University Hospital yesterday evening, but passed away soon after with friends and family beside him.

A source close to the actor said: "Gerard will be deeply missed by his friends and family, and indeed his huge fan base across his beloved Scotland and further afield.

"He was a private and gentle man and his family and friends would appreciate privacy during this sad and difficult time."

Mr Kelly was born in Glasgow in May 1959 and appeared in many classic comedies, such as City Lights, Rab C Nesbitt and Scotch and Wry.

• CELTIC striker Anthony Stokes has insisted he won't be scared by bullies after a group of supporters targeted his home.

Police were called to the Irish footballer's Broxburn property after a group gathered outside after the Parkhead side's defeat by Rangers on Sunday.

Stokes said he would not tolerate harassment.

"I won't be intimidated by people coming up to my house. If people have a few drinks they tend to do stupid things. No player should have to expect it."

• PORTS and property group Forth Ports has appointed a new finance chief.

Stuart Paterson, who resigned as chief financial officer at Johnston Press earlier this week, will succeed Wilson Murray – finance director for Forth for the last 18 years. Mr Murray joined Forth Ports Authority in 1986 and helped steer the group through its conversion to a plc.
