Coronavirus in Scotland: 28 deaths registered as country sees more than 1,000 new cases in 24 hours

A total of 28 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours as Scotland sees 1,281 new cases since yesterday.

Of these new cases, 496 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 258 in Lanarkshire, 194 in Lothian and 89 in Tayside.

The remaining other cases are spread across the other nine health boards.

To date, 1,170 people who have tested positive for the virus are being treated in hospital, which is 18 more than yesterday, and 83 patients are in intensive care with confirmed Covid-19 – a decrease of three people from the day before.

So far, 62,812 have tested positive for the virus in Scotland according to the Scottish Government figures.
