Peel to redevelop Shell refinery site

PEEL Holdings, one member of the consortium stalking Forth Ports, is to redevelop the former Shell refinery site at Irvine Bay in Ayrshire.

More than 400 homes and 4,000 square metres of office space will be created through the redevelopment, which is a joint venture with the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company.

The ten-year project is expected to cost about 9 million and will create 414 jobs, the two firms said yesterday.

The scheme will also create 165 new berths at the marina but a further 400-600 could be on the cards at a later stage. Work will commence this summer.
