NVT sees profits rise on return to growth

NVT, the Bellshill-based IT group, has posted a 20 per cent rise in pre-tax profits for 2009, despite a 3 per cent drop in sales.

Turnover fell to 6 million in the year to 30 September, but pre-tax profits grew to 629,000.

The company said it had returned to growth in the four months to the end of January, with revenues up almost 20 per cent to 2.4m and pre-tax profits rising by one-third to 235,000.

NVT also revealed that it had won a central government contract to supply IT support.

Under the deal, NVT will work with the Scottish Government, the Scottish Prison Service and National Galleries.

Stephen Brown, managing director of NVT, said: "We have been working hard for many years to build a business which could withstand recession by developing our customer base."
