IG Scottish Index lags behind Footsie

Shares in an index formed using Scotland's listed companies rose just 0.6 per cent last month against a 2.3 per cent gain by the FTSE-100 after a significant sell-off at Cairn Energy.

The IG Scottish Index – created by spread-betting firm IG Index using Scottish firms, excluding Royal Bank of Scotland – was given support by rises at transport operators Stagecoach and FirstGroup.
