BPI boosted by end of EU inquiry

SHARES in British Polythene Industries (BPI) rose yesterday after the Greenock-based firm revealed that the European Commission (EC) had ended its competition inquiry into the agricultural films market.

The move by the European regulatory follows last month’s decision by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to close its separate probe into the market.

Officials from the EC and OFT raided the offices of BPI last year as part of their wider inquiries into the farming packaging sector.

Shares in BPI closed up 11.12p last night at 330.12p.
