Witness appeal launched following attempted murder in Paisley

Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked with weapons in Paisley on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old male victim had been walking along Henderson street with another man when the incident occurred at around 6.35pm on April 28.

Detectives believe the attack was premeditated as the suspects “jumped out from a close” near to the junction with Brown Street, and “proceeded to attack him with weapons”.

The suspects, who were all white and dressed in black clothing, fled the scene after the attack.

Police reported that members of the public helped the victim, who had suffered serious head injuries, and called the emergency services.

He was then taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment where staff described his condition as “serious but stable”.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross from Paisley CID, said: “From enquiries carried out so far, we believe this may have been a pre-planned and targeted attack on the victim, which has left him with serious injuries.

The attackers "jumped out" from a close on Henderson Street near the junction to Brown Street in Paisley.

“The incident happened in a busy residential area, with lots of flats overlooking the street, and it is likely that people will have witnessed what happened.

“I am appealing for anyone who was nearby and saw the assault take place, or noticed anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.”
