Scots actor James McAvoy cast as Frankenstein

JAMES McAvoy, star of The Last King of Scotland and the upcoming Irvine Welsh adaptation Filth, has reportedly been signed up for the lead role in a new Hollywood version of Frankenstein.

The 34-year-old Glaswegian will star in the project directed by fellow Scot Paul McGuigan, the Emmy-winning director of the BBC’s modern version of Sherlock.

McAvoy is joined in the cast by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. The film will begin production shortly according to the Deadline Hollywood website which broke the news, with a tentative release date of October 2014.
