Spotify Wrapped has officially arrived. After weeks of anticipation the streaming giant has released its annual deep dive into your year in music.

Powered by AI, it reveals your genre-listening habits, five most-streamed artists, top music moods and offers a blended playlist of your 100 most listened to songs for the year.

Beginning as a viral marketing campaign in 2016, Wrapped has evolved into an iconic feature that Spotify's 574 million users worldwide look forward to; waiting patiently to share their results with friends and family to compare their taste in music.

If, like me, you've ever wondered when Spotify Wrapped collects data from, who are the most listened to artists on Spotify, and how exactly you can access your 2023 Wrapped look no further.

When does Spotify Wrapped 2023 come out?

Spotify officially released Wrapped 2023 on Wednesday, November 29.

In 2022, Spotify Wrapped was released on November 30 while in 2021 Spotify Wrapped appeared during the first week of December.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking?

Spotify begins tracking listening data for Wrapped from January 1st, beginning the countdown for your year on Spotify. In 2022, data was recorded until October 31 however Spotify have confirmed that is not the case for 2023.

Instead, Spotify listening data will stop being tracked a few weeks before the release of Wrapped, and as such will likely have cut off at some point in November.

How to check Spotify Wrapped

In order to check your Spotify Wrapped, first make sure that your app is fully up to date.

When you first open Spotify, the first thing you should see is a large Spotify Wrapped banner. If that doesn't appear for you, check the sections along the top of the homepage for the Wrapped section which should be highlighted with a coloured border.

If you still can't see your Wrapped, there are a couple of options you can try.

Search Spotify

When on the homepage of the Spotify app, use the search bar and type "Wrapped 2023", which should bring up your playlist for the year. Alternatively, for those on mobile try entering "spotify:datastories:wrapped" into your search bar to bring. This should automatically make your 2023 Wrapped roundup play.

What's new for 2023?

For 2023's Wrapped, Spotify have introduced the "Me in 23" section, revealing the habit which defined your year.

Users will be assigned one of 12 listening types to fit their habits, from the Time Traveller, who loves to listen to music on repeat, to the Shapeshifter, who listens to music of all types.

In addition, Spotify Wrapped 2023 includes round ups such as the Genre Sandwich which combines all of your most listened to music in one tasty parcel.

The streaming giant also took a look at monthly listening trends across the platform, with the Barbie movie and the Roman Empire meme having massive impacts across the year.

How long do I have to view my Spotify Wrapped story?

Listeners will be able to see the results of their year in music by saving the "Your Top Songs 2023" playlist to their library.

However, your Wrapped data story - the key visual element of Wrapped which includes additional details such as your listening personality and more in depth data insights - is only available for a limited period of time.

So if you're looking to absorb all of the information in your 2023 Spotify Wrapped story, you may want to get tapping as it's likely you will only be able to view the Instagram-style story until the end of the year.

In celebrating Spotify Wrapped, the streaming giant also provide an overall look at what the most popular songs, artists and podcasts on Spotify were for the last year.

For 2023, Spotify have revealed the ten songs which were streamed the most on Spotify.

How can I get Spotify Wrapped?

With Spotify Wrapped, both free and premium users will be able to access their ‘wrap-ups’ of their most listened to songs and albums on the Spotify app.

An immersive display of statistics and a slideshow illustrating their year in music will be on offer that can be shared on social media to apps like Instagram, Snapchat and X, the site formerly known as Twitter.
