Weekend Bigots - A new podcast launched by The Scotsman

The Scotsman is launching a groundbreaking new podcast aimed at tackling one of the country’s most controversial subjects.

Weekend Bigots will shine the spotlight on the murky world of sectarianism in Scottish football, from the 1960s and 70s right up to the present day, talking to people who have been involved at the sharp end of the game.

In the six-part series Scotsman journalist Kevan Christie speaks to former footballers Derek Ferguson and Mickey Weir, ex-Scotland boss Craig Brown, and former grade one referee Stuart Dougal, no stranger to controversy himself and of course the fans.

The podcast poses the thorny question of why the divide still exists in Scotland to this day, and asks what can be done to change attitudes.
