Under the Radar: Finiflex

For the past two decades, a discreet studio opposite a Leith tower block has been the HQ of Finiflex Records, while simultaneously serving as a source of music heard in advertisements for Irn Bru, IKEA, Drink Aware and the Rubik's Cube. Built by John Vick, in recent years it has also hosted some interesting guests, including Irvine Welsh and Nicola Sturgeon, as well as DJs such as Andrew Weatherall and Justin Robertson.

In what might be described as the launch of a range of “own brand” music, Vick has joined forces with his erstwhile collaborator, Davie Miller, to form Finiflex (the band) as a vehicle for their new creations. On Friday the duo released a groove-laden slice of electronica (on Finiflex Records, of course) entitled TA TA OO HA, giving a tantalising taste of what is to follow on an album in the new year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6McMp6EPzc
