Scotsman Photo Competition winner: David Gow

We are delighted to announce that David Gow is the winner of December’s Scotsman Photo Competition for this striking image of the Scott Monument in Edinburgh given an unusual psychedlic glow by the lights of the adjacent Ferris wheel.

David receives a Lowepro CompuDay Photo 150 camera bag for his winning effort, which the Scotsman picture editor selected from hundreds of entries.

Our competition for January is now open, and the winner will receive a Giotto’s MTL 9351B camera tripod, together with a MH5011 three way head.

This quality combination will ensure that your camera is mounted on a sturdy base, with adjustable legs to shoot at any height, together with a versatile ‘3-way’ head for precise camera positioning. Great for shooting in low light, or just ensuring pin sharp pictures, the kit features a quick release plate and additional safety catch so your camera will be safe at all times. The Giotto’s tripod and head will also support up to 4kg of camera equipment – enough for any aspiring pro.

The competition is open to all non-professional photographers of all ages and the only stipulation is that the photos must have been taken in Scotland within the past three months.

Simply send your photos (maximum of three per entrant) to [email protected] with the subject ‘Scotsman Photo Competition’. You must include your name, postal address and some information about each picture.

The closing date for entries is Monday 23rd January. The winning photograph will be published in The Scotsman, and two runners-up will be featured in on scotsman.com.

There is no cash alternative. As part of the competition terms, you are consenting to Scotsman Publications using your photograph in paper and online at no charge.
