Scots team up with New Zealand to share festival tips

SCOTLAND and New Zealand have struck a deal to share expertise and knowledge on hosting major festivals and events.

It is hoped the memorandum of understanding between the two countries will help their chances of winning bids to host sporting and cultural showpieces.

Government event agencies in Scotland and New Zealand say similarity of geography and population size in each country has been a key factor in agreement being reached.

An announcement yesterday said the pair had agreed to help each other “grow and develop experience”, with adventure sports and golf already identified as major areas of cross-over.

Paul Bush, chief operating officer of EventScotland, said: “Our agreement will allow for the regular transfer of knowledge between our organisations, which will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of our events strategy.

“Our position as one of the world’s leading events destinations will only be strengthened further.”

Kylie Archer, manager of New Zealand Major Events, said: “Under this agreement we look forward to collaborating with EventScotland to take this success to the next level.”
