During the original selection process, two women nominated for inclusion but not finally chosen.

But now a list of over 200 female nominations suggested by Monument staff and the Saltire Society is being shorlisted.

Nominations include Elsie Inglis, founder of the Scottish Women’s Hospital and Elenor Gordon, Olympic swimmer. The shortlist will include five names with the winner chosen by a panel and the public over the next few months.
