Robbie Williams fans hit with ticket mix-up

SCOTTISH FANS face an anxious wait to see whether they will be one of the lucky few to see Robbie Williams perform an intimate gig at the Glasgow Barrowlands - after a ticket hitch meant 26,000 applicants were told they’d snapped up briefs for the 2,000-capacity venue.

And in Ireland, only 2,000 fans were told they’d been successful in applying for 26,000 tickets at the O2 Arena in Dublin, following what ticket vendor Ticketmaster called a ‘database error’.

The company voided the results of the ballot, as a straight swap would be unfeasible due to the vast difference in capacity between the two venues, instead declaring that a second ballot will be redrawn in the interests of fairness.

Ticketmaster revealed they had been inundated with around half a million applicants for the initial ballot, describing demand as ‘extraordinary’.

A company spokesperson said: “Due to a database error, some customers who entered the Robbie Williams ballot for his dates in Dublin and Glasgow were advised, in error, that they had been successful.

“We apologise sincerely to Robbie Williams and his fans. In the interests of fairness to all fans who applied for tickets for these two concerts, we have declared that the affected ballots are invalid and will be running the ballot again from those who were told they were successful.”

The former Take That singer is due to play Glasgow on September 12th, and Dublin two days later on the 14th, as he previews new material from his ninth album.
