Review: Pinocchio: Adventures in the Metropolis, theSpace @ Venue 45 (venue 45)

A WELL-CRAFTED wooden puppet lies at the heart of this production, manoeuvred around by three puppeteers. Other than that, there really is little here to hold our attention. **

The re-location of Carlo Collodi’s original tale to the 21st century says nothing about modern life, only serving to bring about the odd smile of recognition (The Land of Toys becomes The Land of Getting Hammered). Saved by some serviceable performances, this debut show from Edinburgh’s ReShape Theatre needs to go back to the drawing board.

Until 18 August. Today 1:45pm.
