Record numbers at castle

URQUHART Castle has welcomed a record number of visitors in one season.

The iconic ruined castle, on the banks of Loch Ness, attracted more than 300,000 visitors through its gates between 1 April last year and 3 January, the highest number of visitors to ever visit the property.

Fiona Hyslop, cabinet secretary for culture and external affairs said: “It is fantastic. Scotland continues to be a must see visitor destination and our castles are a huge part of the visitor experience.” The castle is owned by Historic Scotland.
