Good Tuesday to you, and apologies on behalf of the Radar editor for the delay this week. Again, it’s a bit of a quiet one - we’re in the summer slump. Plus everyone’s got a T in the Park/Andy Murray hangover of course. But there are still a few things we feel you might like to hear about so let’s continue.

• Fence Records are putting on another Away Game on the Isle of Eigg this month, and yesterday they revealed a top-notch line-up. Taking place between 20-22 July, it is unfortunately sold out, but if you are heading to the Hebrides, The Pictish Trail, writing on Drowned in Sound, has spilled the beans on who you can expect to see:

“The Pictish Trail, King Creosote, Gruff Rhys, Django Django, Nathan Fake, Jon Hopkins, Euros Childs, Slow Club, Cate Le Bon, Meursault, Seamus Fogarty, Kan, François & The Atlas Mountains, John MacLean (Beta Band / Aliens), Gulp, Y Niwl, Sparrow & The Workshop, Sweet Baboo, Rozi Plain, The Massacre Cave, Reuben Wu (Ladytron), Three Blind Wolves, Kid Canaveral, OLO Worms, Radials, H.Hawkline, Archipel, Babe, Delifinger, Kathryn Sawers, The Twilight Sad (acoustic), Jo Schornikow, Scott Rudd, Rob St John, Hardsparrow, Randolph’s Leap, The Massacre Cave, Over The Wall, George Thomas, Quickbeam, Lord Rochester, Alun Tun Lan, FOUND (DJ set) … and one or two other bits and bobs.”

• The day splits for the Wickerman festival, which takes place on July 20 and 21, are now online.

• Glasgow-based record label Flowers in the Dustbin have released a 15-minute mini documentary called The Glasgow Flower Show, featuring an array of artists including Mummy Short Arms, Kick To Kill, For Abel, The Lotus Project, Captain Majestic and I’m Sick as well as bloggers, journalists, DJs and audience members. Watch it now.

• The nominations for this year’s Scottish New Music Awards have been announced - and you might be pleased to hear there’s not a Sandi Thom mention among them. There’s not too much which you would be likely to see on these pages; but Radar has been nominated for “Best Website/Online Publication”. Last year’s event was overshadowed by the backlash which followed the badly organised event, so forgive us for not leaping with excitement. More information is available on the website.

• The folk behind Kilmarnock’s Dirty Weekender in June will be popping up at Live@Troon this September, with Meschermitt’s Dirty Takeover. They’re putting on Tommy Reilly, The LaFontaines, and Little Fire at the Walker Hall in Troon along with local bands Mechanical Smile, Delgetti and Proud Honey.

• If you missed out on T in the Park you can have a peep at the BBC Introducing stage offerings on YouTube, which is quite exciting. And of course you can read all the reviews right here.

NEW MUSIC

Milwalkie, a band which divides its time between Aberdeen and Berlin, got in touch to tell us about their debut single. ‘Wash Yourself’ is released independently on July 22 and will be available on iTunes, Amazon and all the usual e-stores. Their second album is due to drop in August/September, but in the meantime, check out the video for the new song.

• Edinburgh’s Yaya Club got in touch to share their new video for ‘Cold Night, Be Kind’. It’s a gorgeous little song, and you can find more on his Bandcamp.

Shambles Miller’s new single, ‘Confessions’ is released today through Pipe Down records. You can get a hold of it through Bandcamp.

Two Years in Russia is a new Glasgow band who’ve just recorded a single with with Lou Hickey, ‘Greggs Run’. Whether it’s about the recent pasty-tax debacle remains to be seen.

• Ullapool lads Naked Strangers have posted a new song on SoundCloud; the entertainingly named ‘Mystery Meat’.

Xavia have launched their new video, for single ‘Over and Out’. It will be released on July 16 and the band plays King Tuts in Glasgow on Sunday to launch it, as part of King Tuts Summer Nights - more of which later.
