WITH his trademark top hat, leather waistcoat, black shades and corkscrew hair, there can’t be many musicians more instantly recognisable than guitar hero Slash.

The former Guns ‘n’ Roses guitarist makes a rare appearance in the Capital on Sunday night, promoting new solo album Apocalyptic Love at the Corn Exchange.

Part of a tour that takes in Europe, Australia, Asia and America, Slash describes the mammoth undertaking as simply trying to “broaden our horizons a bit”.

One of the most influential axesmiths around, Slash was recently honoured with a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, which came not long after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a G’N’R member.

The former presentation was also notable for Charlie Sheen’s comments, who, in saluting Slash, said it was “quite fitting, I think, that Slash is getting a star on the very street that Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on.”

Born in London and raised in LA, the 47-year-old icon - real name Saul Hudson - will be bringing new vocalist, Myles Kennedy, along with him.

Tickets for this will be like gold-dust, so if you’re a lucky recipient... welcome to the jungle.

Slash, Corn Exchange, Newmarket Road, Sunday, 7pm, £32.50, 0131-477 3500
