Preview: Music Like a Vitamin

Idlewild guitarist Rod Jones – who has battled depression most of his life – is using live music to get Edinburgh’s rock fans to discuss the issue.

“Tonight’s gig is a way of keeping people talking about it [mental health] and just talking is a relief for some, as is expressing yourself through music,” says Jones, whose band The Birthday Suit perform alongside Fatherson, Withered Hand and Sparrow And The Workshop.

“It’s a subject close to my heart, and all I can do is keep plugging away to get the message out there.”
