THE Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) New Contemporaries is a new event designed to focus on the most promising Scottish artists and architects. The annual curated exhibition will showcase examples of work, and builds on the former RSA Annual Student Exhibition formed in 1976.

Up to 60 gradautes from the RSA feature in the exhibition, selected from the 2008 degree shows by a group of RSA members, led by Will Maclean and representatives from the main schools of art and architecture across the country, including the Elgin Moray College of Art, participating for the first time.

The exhibition is shown in all 12 of the RSA galleries, giving each individual the chance to show off their latest work, comprising painting, sculpture, film making, photography, printmaking, architecture and installation art.

Colin Greenslade, RSA Programme Director said: “We envisaged that the development of this exhibition will be one of the most important initiatives for emerging artists in Scotland each year.

“The exhibition will be an unique opportunity to see the best of Scotland’s emerging talent under one roof.”
