New JMW Turner artworl on display at National Galleries of Scotland

A MAJOR artwork by JMW Turner has gone on display at the National Galleries of Scotland.

The watercolour, Rome from Monte Mario, is dated from around 1820 and was recently acquired by the gallery through the Acceptance in Lieu of Tax scheme.

It takes pride of place in the venue’s Turner in January exhibition and joins the Scottish National Gallery’s collection of 38 Turner watercolours, which were bequeathed in 1899 by English collector Henry Vaughan.
