Lost Edinburgh: Princes Street 1973, Now and Then

The old Jacey Theatre is pictured on Princes Street in 1973.

Princes Street has long been central to Edinburgh’s retail and entertainment sector, but the famous shopping destination has seen countless stores come and go over the years.

In 1973 Princes Street was home to the Jacey Theatre, which specialised in art-house films.

Though currently empty, the site was most recently held by clothing giant Gap.
