Local Buzz: Sonic Thrill, Lady North

SONIC THRILL A female-fronted band with an Eighties edge, Sonic Thrill are influenced by bands such as Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue and Europe, which makes a refreshing change from the scores of indie bands modelling themselves on the Arctic Monkeys.

The five-piece of Hannah Jones (vocals), Matt Le Core (guitar), Nic Ross (drums) and Jordan Hope (keys) formed exactly a year ago from the ashes of hair metal cover band Neon Cougar.

Since then, audiences have been wowed at the handful of shows they’ve played and to keep the momentum going, the young band are currently holed-up in the studio recording their debut mini-album (originally just an EP), which is to be released on their first-ever tour of Scotland, which brings them to Electric Circus on Saturday.

LADY NORTH

Rock three-piece Lady North have been said to ‘plug the gap between the city’s more leftfield folk outfits and its electronic musicians.’

They went down a storm on the T Break Stage at T in the Park last year, so don’t miss them on home soil.
