Local Buzz: Backlash| The Holy Ghosts

BacklashFIVE-piece Edinburgh rockers Backlash celebrate the launch of their new EP at Electric Circus tomorrow night with support from Emilio Largo and Blackjack.

The headliners combine punchy vocals and riffs reminiscent of heavyweights such as AC/DC and Iron Maiden with an electrifying stage presence, and have shared stages in the past with the likes of Logan, Drive By Audio, Dear Superstar and Serpico.

“We pride ourselves on a memorable live show, making sure the audience recognise our devotion to good old rock n’ roll,” say the band. “Audience engagement is the norm, and when possible, members of the band will get as close to the crowd as they possibly can.”

Support act Emilio Largo combines hurtling riffs, ferociously unhinged screams and progressive breakdowns to create extremely energetic and frantic music, while Blackjack’s sound has been described as the “kinda riffs that will make your granny cry”.

The Holy Ghosts

THE Holy Ghosts only formed last winter but in that short time they have made a real impact on the music scene, with festival appearances up and down the country and even a support slot with Happy Mondays legend Shaun Ryder at Liquid Room.

Drawing influences from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Chuck Berry, they put a modern twist on dirty 60s rock ‘n’ roll, and their sound often draws comparisons with the Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main Street era.
