Launch of RSNO’s website plagued by fault

THE Royal Scottish National Orchestra will relaunch its website today after a rogue program apparently caused major problems for users trying to check listings or information about the orchestra online.

More than ten days ago, Google searches for the RSNO embarrassingly began redirecting web users to apparent sex websites offering to connect them with “hotties” in their area.

Yesterday, searches for the RSNO and any other subjects, including new conductor Peter Oundjian, were still redirected to a different generic site offering searches for concert and music listings.

The orchestra’s main website, at rsno.org.uk, promised that “our new website is coming soon”, but no links were working.

Staff promised that it would be up and running today to launch the new programme.

Staff also said the RSNO was not being targeted by hackers but the server hosting its website had been affected. A redesign of the RSNO website was already planned, they said.

“We have been subjected not to a targeted hacking but a general sweep that has affected this server,” said a spokeswoman.
