IRN-BRU winners set to debut in new commercial

A new IRN-BRU advert, featuring winners of an online competition, will make its debut tonight.

• How the winning couple appear in the advert

The winning pair, Lisa Stewart (24) and her fianc Stephen Conway (25), both of Paisley, were selected at random and their version of the summer themed advert will appear on STV tonight during Coronation Street.

The duo will take leading roles in the advert as traditional seaside cardboard 'cut-outs' – in the shape of a buxom young woman and a seven stone weakling of a man.

The win came as a surprise to the couple as Stephen's mother, Christina Conway, had entered them into the competition without them knowing, to celebrate their upcoming wedding in May 2012.

Tonight, viewers will see Lisa and Stephen appear in the 60 second advert which celebrates the much-loved moments of our Scottish summertime and is set to a soundtrack from Scottish music star Paolo Nutini and his fast-paced hit, 'Pencil Full of Lead'.

Photos of the couple's faces will appear within the animated cut outs characters, which throughout the advert end up in a series of scraps as they battle it out for a can of IRN-BRU.

Lisa, a nurse at Erskine Home for ex-servicemen and women, said:

"We didn't know Stephen's mum had entered us into the competition, but it was very nice of her, she knows we both love IRN-BRU and find their adverts hilarious. It's was great to see our faces in the advert online. We didn't think anything else of it, until IRN-BRU contacted us to say our advert had been selected and we would be appearing on TV!"
