Get set for some May-hem

LIKE many artists – Edinburgh’s own KT Tunstall among them – Imelda May has Later With Jools Holland to thank for her big break.

That was a couple of years ago now and, having become an overnight sensation after her TV debut, the Irish rockabilly singer has gone on to become a bona fide star, with two No.1 albums to her name.

May has played here several times in the past and says that she can’t wait to return next week.

“The adrenaline I get . . . I love it,” she enthuses, ahead of her visit to the HMV Picture House on Wednesday. “I love to see everyone going home after a gig happy.”
