Friendly Fires burning bright at street party

ST Albans’ Friendly Fires are simply one of the best live acts around.

The Mercury and Brit nominees went down a storm at every major festival this year, so music fans in the Capital are in for a real treat as they turn in a performance at the Street Party.

Earlier this year, the band cemented their reputation with a second album of infectious indie-dance in as many years.

“If we had a manifesto for this album,” says lead singer and Ed Macfarlane, “it was a simple one – make an exciting, colourful pop record.”

“Our goal is to make vibrant, widescreen songs,” adds guitarist Edd Gibson. “But they must retain a spontaneity, have an energy and mysticism around them.”
