MUSIC

A TAPESTRY OF MANY THREADS: Writer Alexander McCall Smith and composer Tom Cunningham celebrate a century of vibrant and colourful Dovecot tapestries in the world premiere of this dramatised production, featuring some of Scotland’s most exciting young singers and musicians. Dovecot, 6.30pm, £15 (314), 0131-226 0000

THEATRE

THIS LAND: The Story of Woody Guthrie Arguably the nearest American equivalent to Robert Burns, it feels right that Woody Guthrie’s story should be told here in Edinburgh this year, and Leeds-based Interplay have done it superbly.
With a selection of songs from Guthrie’s back-catalogue, and dialogue drawn from Guthrie’s own words, his troubled personal life is given equal prominence alongside the music. Zoo, 6.30pm, £12 (£8), 0131-226 0000

DANIEL SLOSS: THE SHOW: The brand new show from comedy’s “half-man-half-Xbox” sees him riffing on his lack of a love life, STD clinics and why he’s sporting a new haircut. This cheeky chappie is probably the best young stand-up on the circuit today, so check him out. EICC, 6.30pm, £11.50 (£10), 0131-226 0000

THEATRE

GOTCHA! This new one-man play presents Ernie, a prickly Glaswegian traffic warden, and seven other intertwined characters.
Tragedy strikes, but Ernie’s Scottish spirit triumphs over adversity with humour and courage.

theSpace, 8.15pm £6 (£5), 0131-226 0000
