Festival review: Molly Wobbly’s Tit Factory; The Assembly Rooms (venue 20)

IN THE town of Little Happening on Mammary Lane – and unless you haven’t already guessed from the title, it’s smutty puns a-go-go – three bored wives’ repressed sexuality and generous bosoms are unleashed by the arrival of a devious and creepy stranger promising bodily enhancement.

This original musical by Paul Boyd and Belfast’s Lyric Theatre – which is an attempt to make a muddled comment about the sinister lure of cosmetic surgery – is pitch-perfectly performed, but hopelessly tame and dull.

It bombs not because of any production shortcomings, but by mistaking the “outrageous” sense of humour it boasts for pantomime standard tittering camp and naughtiness.
