Fashion: Style to raise funds for Poppy Appeal with luxurious nostalgic look

STEEPED in military history, what better place to turn heads in support of the nation’s ex-servicemen and women than at the city’s Royal Scots Club.

Taking to the catwalk in the historic premises in Abercromby Place, a team of models from Jenners put their best feet forward last week in aid of Poppy Scotland – helping raise vital funds for veterans and their families in the process.

The Evening News caught up with the girls and their team of stylists before they took to the runway for the charity night, showcasing a range of autumn/winter outfits under the “Bohemian Opulence” theme.

“It’s all about luxury that’s easy to wear this season,” said Vhairi Matheso, senior sales manager at Jenners, one of the stylists on the night.

“There is a big nod to the 1960s/70s, but with a contemporary twist.”

And in line with this, the high street is oozing with luxury faux fur, textured layers, cable knits and metallics.

“We always get very excited at this time of year in Edinburgh,” she added. “The whole city looks amazing. But although it may be winter – which means looking good but also being warm – it is also party season and there is a wide range of looks out there at the moment to suit all ages.

“It could be an 18-year-old looking to go to their first work Christmas party, or someone in their 60s off to a function or a winter wedding.”

So think retro, add a 21st- century spin, and you will not go wrong.
