Edinburgh’s traditional arts fest unveils attractive line-up

ORGANISERS of Edinburgh’s annual celebration of traditional arts have unveiled the line-up for the tenth annual event.

Grammy award-winning country duo The Civil Wars, world music stars Tinariwen, and Celtic boy bands Manran and Skerryvore will all be appearing in the city this spring.

Other home-grown acts appearing at Ceilidh Culture include Karine Polwart, pictured, Kim Edgar, the Rua Macmillan Band, The Albion Band, Nuala Kennedy and Mike Heron, a founding member of the Incredible String Band.

The Usher Hall will host a two-day mini festival as part of Ceilidh Culture, which runs from 16 March to 15 April, while other venues will include Greyfriars Kirk and the Queen’s Hall.

Steve Cardownie, festivals and events champion at the city council, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to sample international acts alongside local talent. The festival includes another feast of music, dance and storytelling starring performers from all over Scotland.”
