Clubbing - The pick of Saturday’s club nights

THE top three club nights this weekend.

JACKHAMMER

Headlining Jackhammer this weekend is Kevin Saunderson, pictured, who, along with Derrick May and Juan Atkins, pioneered techno.

In 1988, seven years after the first techno record was released, Saunderson scooped No 1 in the commercial charts with Innercity by Goodlife. A track which embodied the ethos of a clubbing generation.

The Annexe, Cowgate, Saturday, 10.30pm–3am, £10

Phillip Gorbachev serves up some electronic teeth-sizzling sounds.

The young Russian techno-head has a flare for the dramatics, working the decks like a machine set to over-drive.

After a move to Germany, he found himself immersed in the colourful Berlin underground, where his fusion of retro electronica and techno was received like a breath of fresh air.

Quickly, he was snapped up by Comeme - a sub-label of heavy-weight imprint, Kompakt, gaining a reputation for being one of the most flamboyant performers.

Expect to be left with some very, very fuzzy feet.

Sneaky Pete’s, Cowgate, Saturday, 11pm-3am, £5

RENDEZVOUS & GASOLINE DANCE MACHINE

Two club nights - double the trouble... Resident DJs, Blair and Ryan Harrower along with Ross Scott, Gary Caravel and Steven Wilison join Gasoline Dance Machine’s ressies Cheap Picasso to re-launch the Third Door.

Expect deep smouldering house grooves mixed up with nu-disco and 80s synth pop.

The Third Door, Lothian Street, Saturday, 9pm - 3am, free
