The 30-year-old, who shot to fame as a classical singer before breaking into the pop world a decade ago, will be bringing along a 10-piece band for her appearance at the one-off “Neu! Reekie!” night on 23 September.

The Edinburgh-based arts collective has also booked former Makar Liz Lochhead for the event, which will see artists perform across five different stages. Scottish singer-songwriter Carla Easton, who fronts indie-pop outfit Teen Canteen, completes the all-female line-up of headliners.

Spanning more than 2,500 years, the first UK exhibition devoted to the Celts for more than 40 years features more than 300 treasures brought together for the first time from collections across Europe.

Michael Pedersen and Kevin Williamson, the poets behind Neu! Reekie!, are promising a “Celtic-influenced orgy of music, poetry, film, animation, drama and dance” at the 1,500-capacity event.

Williamson said: “We’ve been inspired by the breath-taking artistry of the Celts exhibition and its thoughtful curation to pull out all the stops for this show.

“The well-kent and much-loved spaces of the museun will make for a superb venue for what we have in mind. As well as our headline acts on the main stage, we’ll have performance art throughout the building.”
