Belladrum music festival draws to a close

THE popular 80s band Madness helped bring to a close the 13th Belladrum Tartan Heart music festival on Saturday night.

The event, which was held over three days for the second year, drew a crowd of about 17,000 people.

Two Door Cinema Club, Super Furry Animals and The Darkness were among the other big names to perform over the weekend.

The festival is held on the Belladrum Estate near Beauly in the Highlands.

Long established music acts such as Gun and the Dangleberries performed, as well as new acts such as The Mermaids.

Police confirmed there were very low levels of violence over the weekend.

There were was one in relation to an assault and a number drug-related offences.

Belladrum Estate owner Joe Gibbs said: “The event was a tremendous success.

“All of the feedback we have had from people has been incredibly positive and we are already starting work on next year.”
