Ten year old boy with disability left "extremely upset" after verbal abuse from teen in Cumnock

Police are appealing for information after a 10 year-old boy was verbally abused about his disability by a teenage boy in Cumnock at the end of February.

The incident happened on Friday, February 26 at around 4.15pm when a group of youths were walking across a road in the area.

One of the group shouted abusive comments towards the 10 year-old victim about his disability.

The 10 year-old victim was with his mum at the time.

Both mum and son were left in an “extremely upset state” as a result of the abuse, according to the police.

The male responsible is described by the police as around 13-15 years of age and wearing dark clothing.

Police enquiries are now ongoing and the police are urging anyone who has any information regarding the incident to get in touch.

Police Constable Connell from Cumnock Police Office said “The victim was with his Mum at the time of the incident and both were left in an extremely upset state.""Enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who saw this taking place or has any information to get in touch and I also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to please check back their footage in case they captured anything which could help identify the person responsible.”
