Malcolm McNeil, Montgomery Street: "Job done. It was a hiding to nothing so well done to the boys for getting through. I was very pleased with their attitude."

Jim Tait, Leith: "They huffed and puffed but never caused us any problems. Credit to them and I hope they enjoyed the experience but I'm glad we are through as we didn't play very well at all. It's a good job we had a goalscorer like Derek Riordan as this covered the fact that we were rank rotten and Hughes needs to get it sorted or we will fall down the league."

Martin Tait, Abbeyhill: "A walk in the park but just didn't score enough goals for my liking."

Davie Johnstone, Trinity: "It took a wee while to get the game won. Not an awful lot of goals but three is okay and we're through without playing very well at all."

Ian Pollock, Pilrig: "It was like everyone wanted them to win but I thought the players made sure we're through to the next round without hitting any heights."

Kenneth Thomson, Leith: "Where was Stokes' goal? He can score against Rangers and Hearts but not Irvine Meadow – baffling this game of football."

Jamie Smith, Leith: "Finished them off at the right time. Riordan was great and I thought the referee was so fussy it was like he wanted to give them a chance to win."

Billy McCauley, Leith: "Good goals but not enough of them. They never gave us any serious problems and it is us in the next round, thank God."

John Blair, Craigleith: "They were well up for it but never had any concerted pressure to trouble us."

Cameron Ross, Craigleith: "I can't complain. It was a bitterly cold day and we got through."

James Locke, Southhouse: "Very disappointed with the performance. We gave them far too much time and space and the players just seemed to go through the motions. I was wanting a load of goals to warm me up."

Anthony Barry, Pilrig: "Just walked the game, no mistakes from any of the players and we're in the next round of the cup. We can do better but it was the result that counted."

Michael Munroe, Ferry Road: "Not easy conditions to play as the weather and the pitch was brutal.

Grant McColl, Ferniehill: "I'm just glad to win the game. Good goals and the man of the match was Riordan."

Kenneth Lennox, Granton: "A bit more effort and we would have scored a few more. Best for us was Stokes – he did everything apart from score a goal."

Alan Lennox, Granton: "It was predicable. They had a right good go but we won easily. Good third goal by Paul Hanlon."

Gavin Beattie, Granton: "We got through on a freezing cold day with nobody injured as far as I know and look forward to the next round and not backwards at the performance that got us through. Run-outs for Cregg and Stevenson and a clean sheet for the defence sums up not a bad day at all."
