World's elite trials riders battle with Nevis Range

SIXTY of the world's most accomplished, composed and skilful motorcycle trials riders from around the globe are in Fort William for the fourth round of the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship.

The two-day event on the slopes of the Nevis Range will see riders negotiate their way round a technical course of natural and man-made obstacles, for points towards 2010 World Pro, World Junior and World Youth titles. In the last double-header event of the eight venue series it is also represents an excellent opportunity for the title contenders to consolidate their championship position as the season reaches its midpoint.

Yorkshireman Dougie Lampkin, who with 12 FIM Trial World titles to his name is already the most successful trials rider of all time, is seeking a 100th Grand Prix win.

"The natural sections at Nevis Range really suit my riding style, and in the back of my mind I know that this is a big opportunity for me to secure my 100th GP win," he said. "I know the crowd will really be behind me and I will be going all out to reward their long, loyal support."

Lampkin's ambition is sure to be tested by the likes of reigning champion Toni Bou and the in-form Adam Raga. Bou, who currently heads the World Pro class, will want to secure his position as he makes his bid for a fourth successive Outdoor crown.
