WL give a commanding performance

West Lothian bowlers powered to a commanding 141-110 triumph over Fife County at Linlithgow to register their fifth victory from six matches played in the East section of the Cities & Counties Championship for the Andrew Hamilton Trophy.

There were wins on five of their six rinks – skipped by Grant Logan, Thomas Mann, Raymond Logan, Neil Speirs and John Aitken with only Steven Fleming defeated.

Despite Raymond Logan losing a 7, John Aitken a 6, and Neil Speirs two 5s, all three still managed to turn in winning performances.

West Lothian are joint top of the East section with Edinburgh & Leith going into the final qualifying fixture against Stirling County East at Carron & Carronshore this Saturday; West Fife and Midlothian are sitting on their tails.

The phase scoring saw West Lothian capture the first seven ends 45-31 and the second 55-34, with Fife edging the third, 45-41.

n Sighthill (6.30pm) is the host club for tonight’s finals of the District 12 Championships featuring Slateford ace Robert Marshall against Halley Cockburn of Parkside in the Singles.
