Western stoop to conquer Uni in Peregrines Cup

HOCKEY: Edinburgh University failed to halt Milne Craig Western’s march to the final of this year’s Peregrines Cup when they went down 3-0 at Titwood yesterday. The students’ defence held firm in the first half but the appearance of former Scotland player Helen Walker in midfield after the interval changed the game and Holly Cram went on to claim a hat-trick.

Grove only took the points at Western Wildcats thanks to a penalty corner strike by Louise Carroll in the second half. On Saturday, Grove had seen off Glynhill Kelburne 6-0 with Sarah Jamieson (2), Dani Johnstone, Kat Cameron and Louise Carroll (2) scoring.

Meanwhile, Wanderers finished off their campaign with a nine-goal demolition of Giffnock including doubles for Amy Rowan.
