Volleyball: Edinburgh Jets bolster title hopes

TITLE hopefuls Edinburgh Jets produced a stunning win over reigning champions Kilmarnock Blaze in the men’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League.

The Capital side handed Blaze their first defeat of the season – 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 28-26 – in what is increasingly looking like a four-horse race for the title. The win allowed neighbours City of Edinburgh to open up a two-point lead at the top by beating City of Glasgow Ragazzi in straight sets. City are now the only undefeated team but Blaze, Jets and Bon Accord are all just two points off the pace.

In the women’s first division, defending champions City of Edinburgh lost at home to Su Ragazzi, while league leaders Ayrshire are now edged victory over Edinburgh Jets.
